2009年、大阪の現代美術画廊「Gallery Nomart（ギャラリーノマル）」をホームに結成。橋本孝之（alto sax, guitar, harmonica）＋ sara（piano, others）の二人によるコンテンポラリー・ミュージック・ユニット。 現代美術ディレクター林聡がプロデュース。
結成当初より現代美術をはじめ様々な表現領域とのコラボレーションを行い、国内外にて活動を展開。2013年 P.S.F. Recordsよりアルバム「void」リリース。領域を縦横無尽に横断する音楽家として独自の存在感を放っている。
アートシーンでは2011年「させぼアートプロジェクト」(長崎)、2013年 静岡市美術館、2016年 大分県立美術館にて招聘公演。2017年 / 2018年「龍野アートプロジェクト」(兵庫) 連続出演。
音楽領域においては、即興、ノイズ、電子音楽、ジャズ、ロック、クラシック、現代音楽など国内外の音楽家達とのコラボレーションによって生まれるボーダレスな世界― “音”と“音楽”の間（ま）で交錯する感覚を表現する。
2021年5月橋本孝之永眠、2024年林聡永眠後も「.es」として活動を継続。

Formed in 2009 and based in Gallery Nomart, a contemporary art space in Osaka, .es [dot es] is a contemporary music unit consisting of Takayuki Hashimoto (alto sax, guitar, harmonica) and sara (piano, percussion, dance). The unit was produced by contemporary art director Satoshi Hayashi.
From its inception, .es has collaborated across artistic disciplines, integrating contemporary art and various forms of expression into their work. Their performances have spanned both domestic and international stages. In 2013, they released the album void under P.S.F. Records, further solidifying their reputation as musicians who transcend conventional boundaries.
They were been invited to perform in art scenes at the Sasebo Art Project (Nagasaki, 2011), Shizuoka City Museum of Art (2013), Oita Prefectural Art Museum (2016), and Tatsuno Art Project (Hyogo, 2017 & 2018). Musically, their work is defined by a borderless approach, blending elements of improvisation, noise, electronic music, jazz, rock, and classical and contemporary compositions. Their sound explores the delicate interplay between "sound" and "music."
Following the passing of Takayuki Hashimoto in May 2021 and Satoshi Hayashi in November 2024, sara continues .es, carrying forward their vision of artistic expression beyond the limits of music.
