ノマル35周年を記念して開催する2つの特別展、第一弾
詩人・建畠晢氏の詩を題材とした領域横断のスペシャルな展覧会

これまでギャラリーノマルでの企画展への参加や、数回に渡る.es(ドットエス)との即興パフォーマンスを重ねノマルとの親交を深めてきた詩人/美術評論家の建畠晢(たてはたあきら)氏。
建畠氏はこれまで、ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ日本館コミッショナーを始め数々の国際展でのディレクションを歴任。また全国の美術館での館長や美術大学での学長職を長年に渡り務め、美術業界では知らぬ人はいない重鎮ですが、並行して1990年代より多くの詩作を発表し、現在10冊近く出版されている詩集は、第35回高見順賞、第21回萩原朔太郎賞受賞など文学界でも詩人として高い評価を獲得しています。

　 今展では建畠氏との共同で、氏がこれまでに発表してきた全詩集の中より当企画のために新旧の詩17篇を厳選。その各1篇ずつをノマルにゆかりのある17名の美術作家がイメージソースとして、今展のための新作を制作・発表するという、前代未聞の特別展となります。

　 [詩画集(ポエトリー・パフォーマンスを収録したCD付き)の出版]
今展でのもう一つの目玉は、ノマル35周年の記念碑として、今回用いられた詩と、その詩を元に制作された作品のイメージを掲載した詩画集の出版です。さらに同書に掲載する詩の中から10篇を建畠氏が朗読し、音楽家、sara(.es)のピアノとの即興パフォーマンス音源をCDとして同書にセット。建畠氏自身も初めての体験という、詩・美術作品・音楽が一体となった、ノマル渾身のCDブックとして、展覧会に合わせて発行を予定しています。

　 10月26日(土)には展覧会オープンに先駆け、ノマル35周年記念の一環として、詩画集出版記念レセプションを開催し、建畠氏とsara(.es)によるミニ・ライブ・パフォーマンスも行う予定です。大変ユニークな試みとなる今展、是非ともご取材・ご高覧のほど、よろしくお願いいたします。

　 建畠さんとは何度か詩の朗読とドットエスの共演という形でパフォーマンスを実施させていただきました。建畠さんは、アートの世界と文学の世界をクロスして活躍されていて、Senses Complexをテーマとするノマルの活動とはとても親和性があると思っています。ノマルの35周年の記念企画として、建畠さんとノマルのアーティストたち、そしてピアニストのsaraが取り組んだのが、「詩人と美術家とピアニスト」というこの企画です。詩から触発された作品たち、そして、それらを内包した詩の朗読とピアノの共演。それらは一冊の素晴らしい詩画集(CD付き)になりました。会期中は作品と詩画集の展示販売しています。35周年らしい企画になってとても喜んでいます。ありがとう。そしてより多くの人に楽しんでいただけるように願います。

Nomart 35th Anniversary Special Exhibitions – First Edition
A Cross-Disciplinary Exhibition Inspired by the Poetry of Akira Tatehata

Poet and art critic Akira Tatehata has deepened his connection with Nomart over the years through participation in curated exhibitions and multiple improvisational performances with .es (dot es).
Tatehata has held prestigious roles in the art world, including serving as the commissioner for the Japan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and directing numerous international exhibitions. He has also served as the director of major art museums across Japan and as president of leading art universities, making him a well-respected figure known throughout the industry.
Alongside his contributions to the art world, Tatehata has been actively publishing poetry since the 1990s. With nearly ten poetry collections to his name, his literary achievements include winning the 35th Takami Jun Prize and the 21st Hagiwara Sakutarō Prize, solidifying his reputation as a highly acclaimed poet in the literary world as well.

For this exhibition, we have collaborated with Akira Tatehata to carefully select 17 poems—both past and present—from his extensive body of published works, specifically for this project. Each of these 17 poems has been assigned to 17 artists closely connected to Nomart, serving as their creative inspiration.
In response, these artists have created new works exclusively for this exhibition, each interpreting their designated poem in a unique visual form. This unprecedented special exhibition bridges poetry and contemporary art, offering a profound and innovative dialogue between text and image.

[Publication of a Poetry Artbook (with a CD featuring Poetry Performances)]
Another highlight of this exhibition is the publication of a poetry artbook as a milestone to commemorate Nomart’s 35th anniversary. The book will feature the poems used in the exhibition along with the images of the artworks created based on those poems.
Additionally, Akira Tatehata will read 10 selected poems from the book, accompanied by an improvisational piano performance by the musician sara(.es). This will be recorded and included as a CD with the artbook. This is a first-time experience for Tatehata himself, as poetry, visual art, and music come together in a powerful fusion. The book and CD will be released to coincide with the exhibition, making it a truly unique and immersive artistic creation.

On Saturday, October 26, ahead of the exhibition's opening, we will host a reception to celebrate the publication of the poetry artbook as part of Nomart's 35th anniversary. During the event, Akira Tatehata and sara(.es) will perform a mini live performance, adding a special musical touch to the evening. This will be a wonderful opportunity to experience the synergy of poetry, art, and music in an intimate setting. We look forward to welcoming you to this memorable occasion!

I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Akira Tatehata on several occasions, where we performed his poetry readings alongside dot-es. Tatehata bridges the worlds of art and literature, and I believe his work aligns perfectly with Nomart’s theme of Senses Complex. For Nomart’s 35th anniversary, this special project brings together Tatehata, Nomart’s artists, and pianist sara to create a unique collaboration titled "The Poet, The Artist and The Pianist."
The exhibition features works inspired by Tatehata's poetry, as well as the reading of the poems and a piano performance, all coming together in one extraordinary poetry artbook (with CD). We will be displaying and selling the artwork and the poetry artbook during the exhibition period.
