ノマル35周年を記念して開催する2つ目の特別展
ノマル史上最多37名の作家が共鳴しあう新作グループ展

1989年、版画工房から始まったノマルは、“SENSES COMPLEX”をテーマに領域を横断し、自身を拡張させながら多くの作家たちと共に独自のもの創りを追求してきました。
優れた作家による作品はそのどれもが、形態、大小を問わず、光り輝く天の星のように深淵で人の心を未知の世界へと誘う力があるー「All Stars」と題した24名の作家による小品展を開催したのが2018年。35周年記念となる今回は、そこからさらに新顔が増え、総勢37名というノマル史上最多の参加作家が新作を披露するグループ展となります。
記念展に設けたテーマは「RESONANCE（共鳴）」。多彩な作家たちやその表現と共鳴しあうことで広がっていった、35年の軌跡を感じていただける空間になることでしょう。

展覧会初日の11月30日には、35周年記念パーティーを開催し、sara(.es)によるライブ・パフォーマンスも行います。ノマルの歴史が詰まった記念すべき今展、是非ともご高覧のほど、よろしくお願いいたします。

アートの共鳴

ノマルがスタートして35年が経った。小さな町工場で始まった小さなシルクスクリーン工房。シルクスクリーンの第一人者と言われていた木村秀樹との仕事が最初の仕事だった。始めたばかりの僕は多くのことを学ばせていただき、本当に満足のいく作品が出来上がった。次に、本人もほとんどしたことがない版画作りを彫刻家の植松奎二と行った。同時にマルティプル作品も出版した、立体のエディションだ。やがて同世代の若い作家とも仕事をし、その制作の幅はどんどん広がっていった。作るだけでなく、発表の場も、ということで小さなギャラリーも併設し、同時にデザインセクションが生まれた。隣家の大きな倉庫が空いたのを機にノマルはスペースを倍ぐらいに増やす。その拡張したスペースに新たなギャラリーが生まれた。片勾配屋根の天井高最大7メートルの、そんなに大きくはないが魅力的な空間が出来上がった。ここの音響特性が良かったこともあり音楽事業がスタートした。ドットエスというユニットを組み、演奏ライブ、CD出版と拡げていった。ここで数々の展覧会、演奏ライブが繰り広げられてきた。ノマルの理念としてSENSES COMPLEXが生まれてきたのだ。美術、音楽、他様々な表現における感覚は交差していく。限定的にならないことと、全てに挑戦していくというのが一貫した姿勢だ。35年を振り返ると多くのことがありそれは全て今に繋がっている。25歳で始めた僕もちょうど還暦だ。若手若手と言われていたのは遠い昔。でも老けてはいけない。35年なんて道半ばだ。今回、Nomartの新旧作家に一堂に会してもらい、新しい門出を迎えた。これからもより若々しく発展していきたい。とりあえず未来へ続く35年のあゆみに乾杯。

Celebrating Nomart’s 35th Anniversary with a Special Exhibition –
A New Group Show Featuring 37 Artists

Founded in 1989 as a print studio, Nomart has continuously expanded its creative horizons under the theme “SENSES COMPLEX,” crossing boundaries and collaborating with numerous artists to forge a unique artistic identity.

"Works by outstanding artists, regardless of form or scale, shine like celestial stars—profound and powerful, guiding the human heart into the unknown." With this philosophy, we hosted “All Stars” in 2018, a small-scale exhibition featuring 24 artists. Now, for our 35th anniversary, we take this concept further, bringing together an even larger and more diverse group. With a record 37 participating artists, this milestone exhibition will showcase brand-new works in a vibrant display of creative synergy.

The exhibition’s theme, “RESONANCE”, reflects the dynamic interplay between artists and their expressions—a journey of creative exchange spanning 35 years. Visitors will experience a space where past, present, and future artistic dialogues converge.

On the opening day, November 30, we will host a 35th Anniversary Party, featuring a live performance by sara(.es).

The Resonance of Art

Thirty-five years have passed since Nomart first began. It started as a small silkscreen studio in a modest town factory. Our first project was with Hideki Kimura, a leading figure in silkscreen printing. As a beginner, I had the privilege of learning from him, and together, we created truly satisfying works.
Next, I collaborated with sculptor Keiji Uematsu, who had little experience with printmaking himself. We not only produced prints but also published multiple editioned sculptures. As time went on, we began working with younger artists of our generation, gradually expanding the scope of our practice.
With the belief that artists needed not just a space to create but also a platform to exhibit, we established a small gallery alongside our print studio. This led to the birth of our design section. Later, when a large warehouse next door became available, we doubled our space and built a new gallery. It wasn’t a vast space, but with its sloped ceiling reaching 7 meters high, it had a distinct and compelling presence.
The acoustics of the space turned out to be exceptional, leading us to venture into music. We formed the unit .es (dot es), producing live performances and CDs, further expanding our creative scope. Over the years, countless exhibitions and live performances have taken place here, giving rise to Nomart’s philosophy: "SENSES COMPLEX." The idea is that artistic and sensory expressions—whether visual art, music, or beyond—intersect and evolve together. We remain committed to avoiding limitations and embracing every challenge.
Looking back on these 35 years, every step has led to where we are today. I started Nomart at the age of 25, and now, I have turned 60 years old, the days of being called a "young artist" feel like a distant past. But there’s no room for aging in spirit—35 years is only the halfway point.
This exhibition brings together both past and present Nomart artists, marking a new chapter for us all. As we continue to grow with fresh energy, I raise a toast to 35 years of progress—and to the future ahead.
